So instead of pitching you on my MLM company, like 99.99% of everyone else online would do, I am actually going to give you some very valuable information, then I will tell you about my primary program.  This information,  if used correctly, can land you in the best MLM company and give you a REAL chance at creating a very attractive passive income in this industry.  Before we continue, I want you to remove any preconceived notions you have had about the MLM industry and keep your mind completely open.  There are plenty of people who are 5,6 and 7 figure monthly incomes, but only because they are with the RIGHT COMPANY.  Just read this information and then at the end, you can make a decision.

1.  Product Demand? -  Is there a demand for the product?  When it all comes down to it, the product is either going to make or break any MLM company.  If the product is in high demand you may want to consider this company.  If the product is not in demand, run very far away!  Another consideration is your target market.  Even with an in demand product, you will want to determine if you can narrow down a market who really needs the product.  For example, a liquid nutritional product that helps with weight loss would sell like crazy if you targeted specifically weight loss enthusiasts, not just anyone you came in contact with.

2.  Payout? – Not all compensation plans are created equal.  The average payout in the MLM industry is 50%.  The specific company you are looking at may be more or less, but just make sure it is above 50%.

3.  Retention Rate? – This is very import, especially when you start to build momentum and grow your team.  A retention rate is the percentage of your downline that remain with the company, either a customer or distributor on your team.  The average retention rate is around 15%.  This is why many people struggle in MLM.  As many distributors as they can put in at the top, there is also a steady flow of people falling out at the bottom.  This is also know as the “leaking bucket effect.” In order to safeguard yourself from retention nightmares, you will want to find a company that has at least a 60% retention rate.

4.  Can You Support The Product? – One question I ask many of my coaching client is “would you sell this product to your mother?”  It’s as simple as that.  If you would not sell the company’s product to your own mother than you need to look for another MLM company.  If that doesn’t do it for you, then put it like this.  How in the world can you expect other people to purchase the product and join the business opportunity if YOU don’t even support the product?

This is article number three in the series on “How To Win With Your Online MLM Business Using the Internet.” Article number two talked about “The Power of the Funded Proposal When Building Your Online MLM Business,” at the end of which I said we’d take a close look at Personal Branding in article number three. So here it is.

Personal Branding is actually just one facet, albeit a truly central one, of Attraction Marketing, which is something that is key to your success in the mlm industry. But because I’ve already gone into plenty of detail in my article “BRANDING – A GREAT WAY TO GET FREE MLM LEADS” on my blog, I’ll just give you the “Reader’s Digest” version and then take a look at what you should be branding yourself FOR. Here’s a quote from the branding article to explain: “Keep in mind here, it’s not about the company you’re with. You are promoting YOU, and what you offer to people that’s of value to them and whatever mlm business they are building. For instance, my domain name is ClintMello dot com. That’s part of branding me. When people see my name, I want them to relate it to good quality information and someone that they can trust. I want to be their go-to guy for info, tips and tools for helping them build their business.”

That actually sums it up very well. You see, it’s not about just getting people to know who you are and to see your name everywhere. What’s significant here is HOW they view you, or in other words, WHO or WHAT do they view you as? Your goal is for them to see you as a LEADER, since people are drawn to leaders, not companies. People are drawn to leaders because leaders offer value and power to those who align themselves with them. So how do you grow to be an online mlm business leader? Increase your value and what you can offer others by educating yourself using the same kinds of resources that successful leaders do…if you want to be where they’re at and have what they have, than DO WHAT THEY DO!

That’s why you’ll hear me say time and time again how tremendously important it is for you to have a system in place that is founded on these mlm business truths and teaches you how to put them into action, not only for your success, but for those on your team as well because let’s face it, the pace, level and endurance of your success depends a great deal on whether your team can duplicate that same success.

Third, is the product being marketed.  Generally speaking, the more products the better. The fewer products you have, the more chance your prospects or potential customers might not be interested.

There was one MLM telecommunications company that recently went bankrupt. They basically only had a few products in the industry. Perhaps if they had added some nutritional products, they could have survived.

In addition to this, the products should be competitively priced, and somewhat unique.
Fourth, know if it is easy to start in that MLM company. Can people join online, or do they have to fill out paper forms?

Having the option to join online makes the whole process a lot easier. On the same note, having the option to join free will open up your opportunity to many more people.

Your MLM company should let people join free and allow them to market the products to earn income. Once someone has joined free, they have partially committed to the business. This makes it easier for you and your company to follow up with them, via mail or email.

Lastly, the more automated the MLM company is, the better. They should give you a personal company website that you can refer prospects to. A prospect should be able to contact you from that page.

And the MLM company should have a series of emails that follow up with your prospects.

There are so many negative things said about MLM companies that you may be hesitating about whether or not to even bother. This might be an online forum, Skype or a toll free phone number. Whatever it is you need to be able to access help and bounce information off of others in your company. Requirements & Fees Make sure you understand this part very clearly before you sign up for anything! What fees are you going to have to pay to get started? You should never have to put out more than $500 when starting any business. If they ask more than that amount then think long and hard before signing up. What are their requirements for getting paid? This is important too. You won’t want your money tied up when you need it most. How Good is Your Upline? Do you have people above you that you can go too? Do those people truly know what they are talking about? You need to have a good support system in place that will allow you to ask the questions you need. If you need help finalizing a sale the last thing you need is for no one to be there to help. So it is vital that the company has a track record in these areas. I believe you do not want to be used to test-run things in a new company.      

Rule No. 3: Where Is The Money? There are two things to consider here, (1) what is the compensation plan like and (2) where does the bulk of your earnings come from; is it from the sale of products or from registering new members? Generally there should be a fair balance between these two sources of income in MLM business. If it tilts heavily towards one side, you better watch it. If the money comes mainly through sale of products, you the distributor will not “break even” soon.

Again, if it comes solely from registering new members, that may be an indication that the products are not easy to market. Or worse: it could even be a sign that you are dealing with a pyramid scheme! They often sell no or scanty products. ALL EMPHASIS is on bringing in new members.

Rule No. 4: How Are Products Sold? Finally, how are their products marketed?  What type of sales system is in place there? Again, there are two things to consider: first, your company of choice must leverage the power of the internet in their marketing efforts. Gone are the days of door to door and word of mouth prospecting. Second, whatever system is in place must be one that can be easily duplicated by the average Joe.

This is very important for your long term growth. If the system is so complicated that you alone must do most things, then that would defeat the very purpose of network marketing, which is to leverage on the efforts of members of your team.
